Thirteen powers do the Witches claim, their right of lineage by Goddess’ name.

Tie a knot and say the words or hand on head–the blessing conferred.

A Witch can give success in love, curse or bless through Goddess above.

Speak to beasts and spirits alike command the weather, cast out a blight.

Read the heavens and stars of night, divine the future and give good advice.

Conjure treasure and bring fortune to bear, heal the sick and kill despair.

This is my birthright to have and to share, blessings to you, may the spirits be fair.

For centuries, Witches have been seriously misunderstood. In the murderous cause of eradicating Witches countless men, women and children were murdered. The vast majority of those murdered were innocent, had no idea what a Witch really was, and were brainwashed with severe falsehoods of the Church. In this context the word Church is capitalized, because the church was literally a large entity and part of life.
So, what is a Witch? The root of the word witch is 'Wit'. So when it comes down to roots, a Witch is literally an individual who knew too much by standards of historical society. Those individuals included healers, herbalists, midwives, and those who excelled at breeding plants and animals.

Unfortunately that meant that the most valuable members of society were being imprisoned and murdered. As it says above, we are healers, we are Priests/Priestesses, we have an affinity with animals, plant life, the weather and spirits. We are sages and great givers of advice. Take us or leave us, but never cross us. Karma exists always, ever mind how you treat others around you. Like begets like. Treat others as you wish to be treated.

So Mote it Be.
